Founded in 1965, The Henry Samueli School of Engineering is one of the nation's fastest growing engineering schools, enrolling nearly 2,000 undergraduates and more than 400 graduate students. The school encompasses the departments of civil and environmental engineering, chemical engineering and materials science, electrical and computer engineering and mechanical and aerospace engineering. More than a third of the faculty affiliated with the school have been elected fellows in professional societies. Four faculty members have been elected into the elite National Academy of Engineering. The school also is home to numerous research centers, including the National Fuel Cell Research Center, Center for Pervasive Communications, Integrated Nanosystems Research Facility, and Center for Biomedical Engineering.
