Prius (which is Latin for "to go before") is the world's
first mass produced hybrid vehicle. EPA-rated at 60 miles per gallon
city, 55 highway and certified as a partial zero emission vehicle.
Prius combines a 1.5 liter gasoline engine with a permanent magnet
motor producing 50 kW (67 horsepower). The Prius is also fitted with
a regenerative braking system which captures the energy created when
the vehicle is coasting or braking and transforms it into useable electricity
to recharge the batteries. |
